Calvin Klein returns to the runway at New York Fashion Week after 6 years

Dear reader,

Calvin Klein's return to New York Fashion Week after a six-and-a-half-year streak of not presenting was a notable event. The show, held at the brand's headquarters on 205 West 39th Street, marked the debut of new Creative Director Veronica Leoni. Something the brand has been without for some time. The location of the event was notably a historical one, as this was the location that Carolyn Bessette Kennedy worked while working at Calvin Klein.... and where they say she met her future husband, John F. Kennedy, Jr.

The familiar location evoked a sense of Déjà vu among the attending editors, reminding them of past visits for previews, garment bag pickups, and previous shows. The front row reflected a similar blend of past and present, with Calvin Klein himself in attendance alongside iconic models like Kate Moss and Christy Turlington, as well as contemporary stars like Bad Bunny and Cooper Koch. Kate Moss is one of the first models that Calvin Klein used that really put the brand on the map back in the 80's.

The collection itself paid homage to the brand's heritage of minimalism and tailoring, while also incorporating modern elements. Standout pieces included coats and a bag shaped like the iconic CK perfume bottle. The show notes emphasized the influence of cinema, the American character, and the brand's signature underwear.

We noticed the amount of blazers and Wall Street looks that took over the runway. Almost as if that iconic moment between John F. Kennedy and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy was being remade right in front of our eyes. Carolyn in a tailored outfit by Calvin Klein and John F. Kennedy, coming in to tailor his very own suit.

The building's history is intertwined with the brand's legacy. Notably, it was the workplace of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, who served as a publicist for Calvin Klein and reportedly met her future husband, John F. Kennedy Jr., at the location during a suit fitting.

Sincerely,

Fashion PR Firm
